Kalmar T2 terminal tractors to help leading Dutch logistics operator achieve sustainable increase in productivity.
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with St. van den Brink BV in the Netherlands to supply the company with four Kalmar T2 terminal tractors. The order was booked in Cargotec’s Q1 2018 order intake with delivery scheduled to take place in the early part of Q3 2018.
St. van den Brink is a family-owned logistics operator with a strong focus on sustainability, and has been awarded a Lean and Green Star by the Climate Neutral Group in recognition of its success in reducing CO2 emissions by 20 per cent. The company supplies customers across the Netherlands with a full range of transport services, including chilled and frozen as well as bulk goods transport. The business prides itself on its modern and environmentally friendly vehicle fleet. The Kalmar T2 terminal tractors will be used to shunt trailers along the two-kilometre route between the Ahold distribution centre and the Kuehne + Nagel distribution centre in Zaandam.
The Kalmar T2 terminal tractors will be equipped with Volvo Tier4F engines that meet the EU’s strictest Stage 4 emissions standards as well as double fuel tanks to reduce operational downtime. These next-generation machines have been designed in close cooperation with customers and feature low overall running costs, a flexible and robust design, easy maintenance and a comfortable driving environment with excellent visibility.
Sander Jansen, Fleet Manager, St. van den Brink: “We have developed an excellent and trusting working relationship with Kalmar in recent years. The T2 terminal tractor’s efficient and low-emission power train was a natural choice given our commitment to being a responsible and sustainable business. The new vehicles offer excellent reliability and will be important in helping us to reduce turnaround times and increase our haulage volumes.”
John Schut, Sales Manager, Mobile Equipment, Kalmar Netherlands: “The T2 delivers the flexibility and choice that our customers around the world need from a terminal tractor, while helping them to reduce running costs. It’s designed to cope with the toughest working conditions, but it also helps operators increase productivity by providing a safe and comfortable working environment for drivers. Our ability to offer a power train that complied with the EU’s strictest emissions standards was an important factor for St. van den Brink.”
