EnerSys to present its latest motive power innovations at LogiMAT 2019

ZUG, Switzerland, 6th December 2018 – EnerSys (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, will present its latest innovations for motive power batteries and their related infrastructure at LogiMAT 2019 – the International Trade Fair for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management – on 19-21 February 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Technical experts will be on-hand at Stand B09 / Hall 10 to provide application assistance and showcase the latest NexSys PURE range of high-performance motive power 2V batteries and Hawker modular chargers, together with the next-generation Wi-iQ3 wireless monitoring device.

Commenting on the latest developments from EnerSys, Anssi Laitinen, Sr. Director of Marketing at EnerSys  said: “The last 12 months’ stream of new product introductions has been exciting for us. They clearly demonstrate our on-going commitment to state-of-the-art solutions that benefit material handling vehicle fleet owners in widely diverse environments.”

The NexSys PURE range of high-performance motive power 2V batteries now has six new cells. These taller additions suit higher duty and larger capacity applications, and accommodate more electric vehicle types and sizes than previously possible. The cells, based on Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, are available in heights ranging from 370 to 675 mm and cover C5 capacities from 130 Ah to 980 Ah.

TPPL technology, integral to the performance of the NexSys PURE range of high-performance motive power 2V batteries, reduces lifetime operational costs compared to flooded and gel alternatives. Accordingly, these batteries have already transformed how many logistics, warehouse and production facilities around the world operate their truck fleets, due to features including fast and opportunity charging, zero battery change (ZBC™) requirements and long cycle life possibilities.

EnerSys will also preview its forthcoming lithium-ion technology NexSys ION for motive power applications. The company’s extensive experience with battery technology has informed their innovative approach to managing batteries and power. They focus on chemistry-agnostic solutions that directly address users’ primary concerns –  energy efficiency and operator safety – while not forgetting the importance of maintenance and diverse technology hurdles.

New additions to the Hawker modular charger range will be on show. The existing range of up to 80V has now been supplemented with 96V and 120V models, with capacity up to 21 kW. No other manufacturer can offer these specifications. EnerSys has designed this successful product thanks to its expertise in electronics coupled with their many decades’ experience in battery charging profile development.

Electrical efficiency improvements of up to 30 per cent compared with conventional 50 Hz chargers allow significant cost savings. The cost of charging a 120V 1500 Ah battery with a modular charger, for example, is about €36 – 37, compared with €50 for a conventional charger.

The new Wi-iQ3 wireless monitoring device represents a step advance for EnerSys and for the Wi-iQ  battery monitoring product range. For over a decade, these have enabled electric warehouse vehicle users to optimise battery management, reduce the number of battery recharges or changes, and maximise each lift-truck’s uptime and productivity.

While retaining all these benefits, the new Wi-iQ3 wireless monitoring device, in combination with the Xinx™  cloud-based battery operations management system, has evolved from a monitoring device into an active IoT gateway that gives users a deeper insight into their battery fleet and its status.

Visitors will also see the new Truck iQ  smart battery dashboard, which gives materials handling vehicle driver’s visibility of their battery’s status from their seat in real time. This easily-understood information enables drivers to optimise their battery’s utilisation and power management, while avoiding the risk of damage or productivity loss due to incorrect usage.

Battery data is measured by wireless sensors located on the truck battery, and collected by a Wi-iQ3 battery monitoring device that relays information to the Truck iQ smart battery dashboard display via Bluetooth BLE. This communication channel is established quickly and automatically on power-up, without need for driver intervention.

Anssi Laitinen comments: “Stand visitors will be given an updated view of our innovative technologies, and how they can benefit from these in terms of improved productivity and power efficiency.”
