fulfilmentcrowd expands UK presence with first 24/7 fulfilment centre
International fulfilment services provider fulfilmentcrowd has announced the opening of a new fulfilment centre in the North West of England, adding to its growing Fulfilment Partner Network to support increasing numbers of eCommerce retailers around the world.
The new centre is the first within fulfilmentcrowd’s 16-strong global partner network to offer 24/7 fulfilment, with access to late dispatch cut offs and all major carriers. Located in Irlam, Manchester, the siteadds 130,000 sq ft of premium storage with space for up to 25,000 pallets.
Fulfilmentcrowd’s Partner Network, built on sharing economy principles, offers a more flexible and sustainable warehousing and fulfilment solution to eCommerce retailers by providing a global network of partner centres with the capacity and resource to fulfil millions of orders every week. This network is controlled using the business’ in-house WMS technology, paired with a variable cost model to simplify pricing and more accurately control margins for customers.
Paul Taylor, fulfilmentcrowd’s chief operating officer, said: “The new UK centre marks an important step in bolstering our operations and service offering to customers with 24/7 fulfilment services for the first time. We have a strong growth pipeline for our fulfilment partner network this year, adding further sites across the UK and Europe to support eCommerce retailers, in what is an exceptionally challenging time, to scale their operations at pace from anywhere in the world.”
To support its ambitious growth plans, the BGF-backed business has also appointed Matt Humphreys as head of development. Previously a director of a logistics recruitment business, Matt brings more than 22 years’ experience of the logistics and fulfilment market and will oversee new customer acquisition across target sectors supporting larger eCommerce retailers with the post-purchase processing of goods for customers around the world.
Commenting on his new role, Matt Humphreys said: “fulfilmentcrowd’s flexible product offering and digital-first proposition really sets it apart from other businesses in a sector where the role of technology and intelligent automation is only gathering pace.
“With more in-depth oversight of customer demand, and AI tools such as automated distributed order management, fulfilmentcrowd provides retailers with much greater flexibility where it matters. I look forward to introducing more businesses to fufilmentcrowd’s bespoke solutions in my new role, which can be completely tailored to a retailer’s existing sales channels, including bespoke integrations to ERP systems and other platforms, which is all-important when it comes to streamlining our customers’ route to market.”
