SURECAM INTRODUCES AI DRIVER COACHING TOOL TO SUPPORT EFFICIENT, VIDEO-ENABLED ROAD SAFETY STRATEGIES
SureCam has launched an AI-powered driver coaching system to help commercial fleets make the most of their smart vehicle cameras by improving safety outcomes, eliminating risk, and dramatically reducing the manual workload. The software solution is designed to remove over 90% of vehicle alerts, while at the same time automate coaching processes to effectively manage driver engagement, remediation and escalation.
“Commercial fleets are struggling to handle the avalanche of alerts and video uploads generated by AI cameras, which is impairing their ability to best use the technology,” explains Justin White, European Managing Director of SureCam. “These devices provide an added layer of risk detection – determining threats both in the vehicle and on the road – but this has created its own set of challenges. By embedding AI into our platform, the driver coaching system can manage and resolve issues without needing excessive human oversight and intervention.”
All alert videos are located in a driver coaching hub, so fleet managers can find, review and resolve issues from one centralised place. It is possible to quickly drill down into any single event and then assign coaching remediation action. Moving forward, fleet managers will be able to configure the system to remediate and escalate events with automated coaching actions, so they can focus personal interventions that will drive the biggest impact.
The coaching system integrates seamlessly with SureCam’s AI cameras to provide innovative real-time, in-cab intervention. The company’s “coach the driver first” approach uses audible nudges that gives drivers the chance to self-correct and maintain a clean safety record. This not only eliminates unnecessary alerts, but also allows fleet managers to easily measure the effectiveness of the safety program.
Drivers have online visibility of their own habits, alongside a simple safety score and peer comparisons, supporting gamification and internal incentive schemes. Due to the high levels of accuracy, the fleet manager has complete confidence in the scoring system, with any false positives automatically removed from driver records. It is also possible to reward drivers for positive defensive driving actions, that may have originally been flagged as a harsh event, by praising them through the system and adding points to their individual safety score.
“We have created highly accurate and configurable AI-powered driver coaching system that will enable fleet managers to address issues in less times and fewer steps, while achieving the greatest results. This latest launch is the first in series of planned software developments this year that will help fleet managers to make the most of AI video telematics and deliver road safety improvements. When combined with our first-class levels of service and support, we believe we have created a true game-changer for the commercial fleet sector,” adds White.
